Data were obtained from the records of 337 HIV patients, which diedbetween 1986 and 1994. Search for specific wú-Toxoplasma antibodies (IgG and IgM) by indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) was carried out in the será of 123 (36,5%) patients, with a positive reaction in 80 (65,0% - IC95 55,9 - 73,4). The IIF reaction was also carried out in the liquor of 70 (20,8%) patients, and 34 (48,6% - IC95% 36,4 - 60,8) had a reagent reaction. In 37 patients the antibody testing was carried out simultaneously in the será and in the liquor and 18 (48,6% - IC95% 31,9 - 65,6) showed reactivity in both tests.
