Writing between the centuries XVIII and XIX, when women had minimal rights, Austen discusses not only the English moral, but the economic situation of the female sex and women education, including the need to find a good husband. The main goal of this essay is to analyze some of the women in Pride and Prejudice and their way of understanding and judging the world, what makes it possible to relate them to the novel as an emerging literary genre and the birth of proto-feminism. In order to do so, the theories of Watt (2010), Vasconcelos (2002), Perrot (2015) and others are discussed here.porAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Orgulho e PreconceitoJane AustenRomanceProto-feminismoMulherPride and PrejudiceNovelProto-feminismWomanAs mulheres em Orgulho e Preconceito: representação feminina no romance austenianoThe women in Pride and Prejudice: feminine representation in the austenian novelArtigo
