However, in contemporary times, it is assumed that it is necessary to resume critically the classical writers of language, as stated Koerner (1996) e Auroux (2009). In this perspective, through the theoretical and methodological principles from the Linguistics Historiography (based on Coelho and Hackerott (2012), the objective here is to bring to light some elements of the production of knowledge about languages from the period part of Ancient Greece, passing through the Middle Ages and Modern Age, until the eighteenth century.
