In this context, 40 swine farms in 22 cities, and in 37 of them the animals were maintained confined and in three were raised in outdoor system; the number of sows per farm varied from four to 750 in a the total of 4279 sows. 829 blood samples were collected from craneal cava vein and examined using Card Test for Brucella sp. Only one animal, in one farm (2,5 %) the serum collected was positive for brucelosis in 40 farms.
