This is an integrative review of the literature carried out in October 2023. The research searched for articles from the last five years and analyzed 24 articles that related to the topic, only one of which was not Brazilian. The study concludes that the main challenges faced by working mothers arise from gender differences inside and outside the family environment; social demands in relation to maternal exercise; little support and social support, as well as low recognition; and physical and emotional exhaustion. There is also evidence that despite guaranteed rights, only a portion of mothers actually manage to achieve them. Furthermore, the lack of corporate interest in keeping women mothers in the job market is notable.
