Methods: Qualitative study carried out with 16 parents of children with gastroesophageal reflux disease. A guiding question was used and the interviews were recorded and transcribed. Results: Eight categories related to the difficulties faced by parents emerged, as follows: frequent vomiting, pneumonia, cost of treatment, impaired social interaction, weight loss and disturbed sleep pattern, causing difficulty in adhering to treatment with insufficient guidance.
