The research acknowledges that, historically, the museum has privileged an approach centered on the economic development of São Paulo and on immigration as a labor force, thereby reducing the plurality of migrant identities and experiences. Through a literature review, document analysis, and critical observation of the permanent and temporary exhibitions, the study reveals tensions between official memory, cultural policies, and contemporary demands for greater representation.
