To answer this question, this article will discuss theoretical and methodological issues in social sciences, to ref lect on the potentialities and limits of a sociological analysis of legal phenomenon. From the point of view of its potentialities, it will be highlighted the gain of scientifically marked empirical knowledge, without neglect the peculiarities of human sciences. From the point of view of its limits, it will be highlighted the difficulties of empirical sociology to deal with some undeniable normative dimensions of legal practice.
