We present the contributions of African and Diaspora peoples to the development of Brazilian metallurgy. Twenty-nine high school students were involved in this investigation, aged between 14 and 20 years old, and eight chemistry teachers in initial and continuing education. The investigation was recorded in audio and video, transcribed and analyzed according to the criteria of the conversation analysis. Our results demonstrate possibilities to teach chemistry from an epistemic African-based approach.porAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Tecnologia africanaLei n. 10.639/2003FerroAfrican technologyLaw n. 10.639/2003IronMetalurgia do ferro em África: a Lei 10.639/03 no ensino de químicaIron metallurgy in Africa: Law 10.639/03 in the teaching of chemistryArtigohttp://dx.doi.org/10.21577/0104-8899.20160258
