From historical-comparative linguistics, linguists seek results that prove the evolution and reconstruction of languages. This article presents the importance of the historical-comparative method described by Vieira (2012) for the reconstruction of languages in the world. The contribution of Rodrigues (2002) works on the Tupí-Guarani, and other works of the author on linguistic reconstruction (1998, 2005, 2017b, 2010, 2014 apud Cabral, 2014). The process of reconstruction of consonants in the Avá-Canoeiro language, proposed by Borges (2006), considering the phonetic and phonological aspects of three occlusive consonants: bilabial / p /, alveolar / t / e velar / k /, to verify the evolution of the consonants of the Proto Tupí-Guaraní. In this sense, it is understood that linguistic reconstruction and linguistic typology go hand in hand.
