With the advancement of artificial intelligence, it is increasingly necessary to analyze how the virtual environment shapes individuals. Accordingly, this study examines the relationship between artificial intelligence and photo-editing filters and socially established beauty standards, given that the use of these tools has become normalized, yet the ways in which this fictional reality impacts users’ mental and physical health are rarely discussed. This is, therefore, a bibliographic study. The discussion presented reveals that the feeling of comparison, generated by the excessive presence of images of perfect bodies on the internet, directly informs how people are perceived and judged in a society that values appearance over intellect. Such a scenario reinforces feelings of inadequacy in those who do not conform to the socially established aesthetic ideal. The implications of this issue are evident in the substantial increase in cosmetic surgeries for aesthetic purposes, particularly among women and, prematurely, among adolescents.
