Cultivated with and without water restriction.Four plants were selected: two cultivated under irrigation and two in dryland, at 7.1 years of age, cultivated in spacing 5.0 x 5.0 m, in a dystrophic red latosol in Goiânia-GO. The irrigation system used was micro sprinkler with a microsprinkler per plant (service pressure (PS): 10 mca, flow rate q = 48 L h -1, wet radius r = 2 m). Soil and root samples were harvested with the aid of a horizontal direction to the pequi tree stem at distances of 0.40; 0.80; 1.20; 1.60 and 2.00 m, and vertically at 0.00-0.20, 0.20-0.40, 0.40-0.60, 0.60-0.80, 0.80-1, 00, 1.00-1.20, 1.20-1.40, 1.40-1.60, 1.60-1.80 and 1.80-2.00 m. These were air dried, sieved and quantified in terms of length, diameter and density. When cultivated without water restriction the pequi tree presents roots distributed (80%) horizontally and vertically up to 2.00 m, being classified mainly (66%) as very fine and fine.
