Cerrado Agrociências, Patos de Minas, n. 2, p. 91-95, set. 2011.2178-7662http://repositorio.bc.ufg.br/handle/ri/13998The aim of this work was to correlate the navigation GPS (global position system) and geodesic GPS with the optical level equipment to determine the most appropriate method to obtain the quotas plan‐altimetry. The experimental data were collected at Catiuá farm, localized in the Rio Paranaiba, Minas Gerais, Brazil; the data were obtained from two different GPS receivers and one optical level equipment. The method used was pathway analysis. The data were compared through t‐test. The geodesic GPS showed satisfactory results. On the order hand, the greatest variability was observed when compared to the mean between the Garmim model GPS (navigation) in relation with the optic level. We concluded that, when using the optical level equipment as standard of altimetry measurements, the geodesic GPS is the most suitable equipment.porAcesso AbertoMensuração topográficaNível óticoAltimétricaTopographic measurementOptical levelAltimetryComparação entre receptores GPS e o nível óticoComparison between GPS receivers and optical levelArtigo
