Acesso em: 5 set. 2024.e- 1981-089Xhttp://repositorio.bc.ufg.br//handle/ri/25556This article presents a reflection on the transformation that the South of Goiás has undergonesince the 21st century, becoming one of the areas with the greatest expansion of cultivated area and sugarcane production in the Midwest, as a result of a strategic modification of sugarcane capital with the consent of the State. This new condition, that is, the spatialization of sugarcane in Goiás was favored by governmental programs and policies, adequate infrastructure and logistics, soil and climatic conditions, water availability, fertile soils, according to the mapping proposed by the Agroecological Zoning of Sugarcane. Based on this scenario, the objective of this research is to understand the existence of peasants and other subjects of the land that (Re)Exist to sugarcane agribusiness through different strategies to remain on the land. The data source of the analyzed data was, firstly, field surveys in the South of Goiás, precisely in the municipalities of Silvânia, Vianópolis, Orizona, Ipameri, Catalão, Caçu, Quirinópolis, São Simão and Jataí; To reach the objectives outlined, a systematic review ofthe national and international literature on the sugar cane expansion in Goiás and the concept of Well Living was carried out. The findings described in this study indicate that there was a decrease in food production, mainly milk and cassava, concomitantly with the expansion of sugarcane agribusiness.
