Hourly weather records, fry bulb temperature and r lative humidity, from 1971 through 1975 and from 1977 through 1981, were used to calcule adiabatic drying potencial of the ambient air. Historica1 weather records from 1971 were selected to simulate ambient air corn drying. Ambien t ai r corn dry ing s y s tems operat ing continuo us l y are not feasible to reduce the moisture content of the grain to the rnoisture levels recommended for safe storage. S lective fan operation, from 9 a. m. to 5 a. m., from 9 a. m . to 6 p. m. and frorn 8 a. m. to b p. m., indicates the possibi 1 lity to reduce corn moisture contcnts, wet hasis, to levels between 12.l and 17.3 percent for 22 percent initial moisture content, between 12.4 and 15.S percent for 20 percent initial moisture content and between 13.1 and 14.7 percent for 18 pe cent initial moisture content, when corn is dried within allo wable storage period.porAcesso AbertoDryingAmbient airCornEquilibrium moistureSecagemAr naturalMilhoTeor de umidade de equilíbrioPotencial de secagem do milho a granel com ar natural em Botucatu, SPArtigo
