It makes a historical overview on the world wide urbanization and then it opposes on the Brazilian’s outskirts formation to some central and peripheral coun-tries. The aim is to apprehend what is singular and/or general in Brazilian outskirts. For such, it emphasizes the need of understanding of the outskirts formation pro-cess, observing the most different aspects of its daily reality.
