The Critical and Popular Communication presented in this research is based on the pioneering experience of slumdwellers and peripherals, in opposition to the traditional media and the “paradigm of absence”, as well as on the discussion of chemical knowledge. With elements of a participatory research, the investigation had the participation of five public-school, peripheral students. The results indicate the appropriation of chemical knowledge in the discussion of racial-ethnic elements and the media.porAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/ComunicaçãoPeriferiaEnsino de químicaCommunicationPeripheryTeaching chemistryA comunicação crítica e popular e a química: potencializando a educação para as relações étnico-raciaisCritical and popular communication and chemistry: potentializing education for ethnic-racial relationsArtigohttp://dx.doi.org/10.21577/0104-8899.20160332
