One of them caused by Leishmania mexicana amazonensis, "Strain Maria" — (Barrai, A. & Cols. - as Leishmania MT (Barbosa, W. & Cols. An. Trop. Med. Parasite, 70: 389-399, 1976). Recently 7 (seven) more new straíns were isolated and identificated by( clinicai and biológica! studies: comparason by zimodeme and squisodeme, enzimatic with 6 and 3 enzimes respectively; besides tiping with monoclonal antibodies that determinated them as diferent from any of the known Leishmanias of the old or the new world.porAcesso AbertoArtigo
