Revista Porto das Letras, v. 4, n. 1, p. 68-82, 2018.e- 2448-0819http://repositorio.bc.ufg.br/handle/ri/21548Based on data from the ALINGO, this paper investigates the uses of diminutives in a variety of Brazilian Portuguese spoken in the northwest of the province of Goiás, Brazil. With a sociohistorical approach the paper shows the uses of the diminutive in that region, and give new evidences for the classical observation from Sérgio Buarque de Holanda (1936) that the high frequency of diminutives in Brazilian Portuguese may be associated to the cordiality that takes place in social relations in Brazil. Moreover, the paper investigates the uses of diminutive in combination with gender marks.porAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/DiminutivoCordialidadeMarcas de gêneroDiminutiveCordialityGender marksUm poquin de Goiás: usos do diminutivo no noroeste goiano‘Um poquin de Goiás’: uses of the diminutive in northwestern GoiásArtigo
