Item Uma abordagem do modelo conceitual de metáforas usadas no ensino do projeto de websites(2014) Gonçalves, Anderson Cavalcante; Ferreira, Deller James; Ribeiro Júnior, JaimeThe use of metaphors in the context of HCI (Human Computer Interaction) appropriately aims to facilitate the student’s learning about the development of a computer interface. The use of metaphors in a consistent and intuitive way helps to reduce the cognitive load required for understanding the functions and features of a system. This article aims to awaken awareness about the importance of using metaphors in the development of interfaces and provide the teacher means to excite the students to develop critical skill. For this it will be discussed the concepts inherent in the use of metaphors in the context of HCI.Item Agente de suporte à decisão multicritério com soma ponderada-fuzzy em gestão pública participativa: um estudo de caso em gestão ambiental(2015) Amorim, Leonardo Afonso; Patto, Vinícius Sebba; Freitas, Luís Alfredo Costa; Sene Júnior, Iwens Gervásio; Bulcão Neto, Renato de FreitasThis paper presents a decision support agent (DSA) for participatory public management. Facing environmental management challenges and the importance of the environment, a case study was performed to analyze DSA’s outcomes, whose profile is more sensitive to environmental concerns providing the environmental manager a natural language interface with Fuzzy logic for assigning weights to the environmental aspects. The main goal of this paper is to demonstrate the importance of changing the method of assigning weights in the weighted sum by Fuzzy logic because the human being is more conditioned to rank problems out in natural language. Experiments demonstrated the use of fuzzy improves usability and, consequently, the effectiveness of DSA.Item Algoritmo auxiliar paralelo para melhorar a performance dos algoritmos genéticos com codificação binária(2008) Camilo Júnior, Celso Gonçalves; Yamanaka, KeijiSome techniques are applied in the optimization problems, however, just a few achieve satisfactory performance when the problem is complex, for example, multimodal or multiobjective. The metaheuristics, although not guaranteeing a global optimum, have good results and, hence, are quite used to these scenarios. Among the metaheuristics, the evolutionary algorithms, especially the Genetic Algorithms (GA), have great results and, hence, one of the most popular. However, the process of improving the solution of an AG may be slow, especially in cases of great complexity. Hence, some papers are developed to improve the performance of the AG. However, when it speeds up the process of evolution in evolutionary algorithms, normally increases the risk of premature convergence, which can negatively influence the population to maximum and minimum locations. Therefore, this work suggests the Assistant Parallel Algorithm (AAP), an algorithm to assist the evolution process of binary encoding GAs. The proposed algorithm is a module attached to the AGs that feeds the population of good individuals. Four operators were created for the AAP: AR, EAR-T, EAR-P and EAR-N, all functionally independent. Experiments were done to measure the efficiency of the AAP and its operators. The results show that the AAP reach the objective of assist the good evolution without using specifics knowledges about the problem.Item An evaluation method of research on wearable wireless body area network in healthcare(2013-02) Rodrigues Filho, Roberto Vito; Bulcão Neto, Renato Freitas; Silvestre, Bruno Oliveira; Oliveira, Leandro Luís Galdino de; Oliveira, Rogério Orlow de; Sene Júnior, Iwens GervásioWearable Wireless Body Area Networks (WWBANs) are an emergent technology enabling the gathering of real-time data, for instance, towards decision making by healthcare professionals in the case of remote monitoring of vital signs of patients. Recent research, however, does not describe in a straightforward way how hardware, software and wireless communication platforms fit together in order to fully support a WWBAN-based healthcare application. In this paper we propose a maturity analysis method of research on WWBANs in healthcare. The goal is to analyze whether a paper contemplates features that a research project on WWBAN in healthcare should have to apply it in a real world scenario. As a result of our method, features not addressed might indicate the lack of maturity of research papers, or even suggest open issues on that field.Item Análise do bem estar psicossocial de aposentados de Goiânia(2009-12) Oliveira, Catarino de; Torres, Ana Raquel Rosas; Albuquerque, Eduardo Simões deThis study examined the psychosocial well-being of retired on pension men in Goiânia. The participants were 118 men, retired by service time, whose working life occurred in public service companies. The instrument used was a questionnaire with open and closed questions. Multiple regressions were used to analyze the data. The dependent variable was the well being index and the predictors were eight variables on aspects related to social relationships, financial life, health and sexual life after retirement. The most significant predictors for the well being of the participant were living the retirement as planned, satisfaction with their health and the possibility of social relationships where they can move more independently. These results are discussed emphasizing the peculiarities of the sample, the difficulties to generalize the results and the importance of further studies aiming at making the subject central to agenda of studies on population aging.Item Aplicação de técnicas de visão computacional para avaliar qualidade de radiografias odontológicas(2010) Costa, Ronaldo Martins da Costa; Patto, Vinícius Sebba; Souza, Rafael GomesThe digitalization of images generated by x-rays, ultrasound scans, resonances and others have been popularized mainly due to the ease of access and low cost of devices that allow this operation. But incorrect digitalization can cause major disruptions and affect the diagnosis. In this paper we propose a computational methodology based on expert knowledge in radiology to assess computationally the quality of digitalized dental panoramic radiographs. Applying this methodology, it is possible to create techniques to ensure the quality of radiographic imaging.Item Aplicando busca tabu e algoritmo genético no corpo de enfermagem de um hospital universitário(2010-08) Camilo Júnior, Celso Gonçalves; Stelle, Diogo; Roza, Diego RibeiroAbstract: the Nurse Schedulling Problem is an expensive and complex task, causing loss of precious time and attention of an important employee of the hospital, usually chief nurse. Thus, this paper proposes the application of the Genetic Algorithms (GA) and Tabu Search (TS) to resolve the Nurse Schedulling Problem of an University Hospital. The results obtained demonstrated the superiority of TS for solving the problem addressed.Item Aspirations, challenges, and open issues for software-based 5G networks in extremely dense and heterogeneous scenarios(2015) Borges, Vinicius da Cunha Martins; Cardoso, Cleber Vieira; Cerqueira, Eduardo; Nogueira, Michele; Santos, AldriAn upsurge of heterogeneous wireless devices and wide-ranging applications on extremely dense urban scenarios has led to challenging conditions that cannot be easily handled by 4G systems, such as the inefficient use of the frequency spectrum and the high energy consumption. In order to address those challenges, the 5G system design demands new architectures to cope with specific requirements, such as scalability, resilience, and energy efficiency. These requirements play a fundamental role in extremely dense scenarios. In addition, when jointly addressed, they have distinct priorities depending mainly on the specific user application demands. In this context, this article presents a management architecture for 5G system, called Wireless Software-basEd architecture for Extremely Dense networks (WiSEED). It is grounded on a software-based perspective of management and jointly manages three key operational services, as follows: routing, mobility, and spectrum usage. Such perspective of management is possible due to programmable network technologies, i.e., network function virtualization and software-defined networking. The architecture mainly intends to provide a better trade-off between the 5G requirements themselves and a high quality ubiquitous and seamless services, as well as efficient mobile broadband Internet for end users. Trace-driven simulation results from a case study show improvements when the management architecture is employed over conflicting requirements.Item Avaliação das interações na aprendizagem colaborativa criativa via Web(2008-12) Ferreira, Deller James; Santos, Gilberto Lacerda dosThe interactivity in collaborative learning in Web is a vast object of study in recent research in education. Many authors have inspected transcriptions of online discussions with the aim to investigate the collaborative knowledge construction via Web. However, there are few researches that address the collaborative knowledge building in solving problem that evokes the innovation and that is directed to the search of a creative solution. In this work is proposed a method to the analysis of interactive processes in function of innovation, creativity, and knowledge production, contemplating the speech acts theory.Item Avaliação do nível de colesterol total por meio de processamento de imagens digitais(2007-12) Oliveira, Paula Lorenzoni Paste de; Oliveira, Leandro Luis Galdino de; Rassi, Cláudia Maria; Albuquerque, Eduardo Simões deHigh cholesterol is one of the illnesses that affects millions of people, causing about 12 million deaths in many developed countries, and it is the main cause of deaths in developped countries. Currently, dosage is obtained by spectrophotometer, based on the analysis of the color concentration. The aim of our work was to develop a technique using Digital Image Processing to dose the cholesterol level in a sample. The results were compared with the results obtained using spectrophotometer. The correlation found was -0,94 (IC 95% = -0,9668 the -0,9036, P < 0,0001). The method proposed is an alternative way to assist in the dosage of the total cholesterol and can be used to develop low cost equipments.Item Avaliação do preenchimento das declarações de óbito por acidentes de trânsito, Goiânia, 2002(2008-12) Carvalho, Gélcio Sisteroli de; Albuquerque, Eduardo Simões deDeaths in traffic accidents are becoming very high compared to general mortality. This work analyses the quality of the death certificates of traffic accidents in Goiânia.Item Capacitação profissional da atenção à saúde para a detecção precoce do câncer de boca: monitoramento digital da população de risco(Cegraf UFG, 2023) Braga (org.), Renata Dutra; Siqueira (org.), Nara Rúbia Pereira de; Zeidler (org.), Sandra Ventorin von; Barbosa (org.), Fernanda Tenório Lopes; Ribeiro-Rotta (org.), Rejane FariaItem Certificado digital(Cegraf UFG, 2023) Lucena (org.), Fábio Nogueira de; Leitão Júnior (org.), Plínio de Sá; Kudo (org.), Taciana Novo; Zara (org.), Ana Laura de Sene Amâncio; Ribeiro-Rotta (org.), Rejane Faria; Braga (org.), Renata Dutra; Amaral (org.), Rita Goreti; Pedrosa (org.), Sheila Mara; Santos (org.), Silvana de Lima Vieira dosItem Certificado digital(Cegraf UFG, 2022) Kudo (org.), Taciana Novo; Zara (org.), Ana Laura de Sene Amâncio; Lucena (org.), Fábio Nogueira de; Ribeiro-Rotta (org.), Rejane Faria; Braga (org.), Renata Dutra; Amaral (org.), Rita Goreti; Pedrosa (org.), Sheila Mara; Santos (org.), Silvana de Lima Vieira dosItem A characterisation of cubic parity graphs(2003) Barbosa, Rommel Melgaço; Ellingham, Mark NormanA graph is Zm-well-covered if all maximal independent sets have the same cardinality modulo m. Zm-well-covered graphs generalise well-covered graphs, those in which all independent sets have the same cardinality. Z2- well-covered graphs are also called parity graphs. A characterisation of cubic well-covered graphs was given by Campbell, Ellingham and Royle. Here we extend this to a characterisation of cubic Zm-well-covered graphs for all integers m ≥ 2; the most interesting case is m = 2, cubic parity graphs. Our main technique involves minimal non-well-covered graphs, and allows us to build our characterisation as an extension of the existing characterisation of cubic well-covered graphs.Item Comparative performance analysis of machine learning classifiers in detection of childhood pneumonia using chest radiographs(2013) Sousa, Rafael Teixeira; Marques, Oge; Soares, Fabrizzio Alphonsus Alves de Melo Nunes; Sene Júnior, Iwens Gervasio; Oliveira, Leandro Luis Galdino de; Spoto, Edmundo SérgioThis work extends PneumoCAD, a Computer-Aided Diagnosis system for detecting pneumonia in infants using radiographic images [1], with the aim of improving the system’s accuracy and robustness. We implement and compare three contemporary machine learning classifiers, namely: Na¨ıve Bayes, K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and Support Vector Machines (SVM). Results of our experiments demonstrate that the SVM classifier produces the best overall results.Item Construção grupal do conhecimento por uma abordagem dialética na Web(2007-06) Ferreira, Deller JamesThe present essay discusses collaborative knowledge construction on the Web, providing an analysis related to how divergent contributions from individuals become a convergent shared knowledge. A proficient collaboration can unlash the creation of something innovating that can not be conferred to a specific student. During the collaborative production a knowledge that could not be constructed individually can emerge. An approach based on dialectic logic to describe one of the possible ways that such a process concerning collaborative knowledge construction can occur by means of a social representation synthesis will be used.Item Derived-tame blowing-up of tree algebras(2005-07) Castonguay, DianeLet k be an algebraically closed field and A be a tree algebra. We consider here a class obtained by the blowing-up of a tree algebra A at a set of vertices D of A, such an algebra is denoted by . The objective of this paper is to prove the equivalence between the derived-tameness and the non-negativity of the Euler form for algebras of this form. We also show that, in this case, if D is a non-empty set then must be derived equivalent to a special incidence algebra, called semichain algebra.Item O diálogo produtivo no ensino do projeto de interfaces(2015-09) Ferreira, Deller James; Gonçalves, Anderson Cavalcante; Berretta, Luciana de OliveiraProducti ve dialogues help signifi cantly in fostering creati vity, which is required by the industry and very relevant and evident in the process of interface design. Thus, taught to be creati ve is an important eff ort in educati ng the students involved in the study of human computer interacti on. This work highlights the importance of verbal creati vity, providing empirical evidence that when students engage in producti ve discussions with other students, new ideas, new knowledge emerge and deepen. In this paper two case studies were conducted. In the fi rst three classes involved were investi gated in the course of computer graphics. Patt erns of discourse producti on depicti ng the advancement of knowledge when students were involved criti cally, but creati velly on others’ ideas. The second case study was performed in six classes involved in the course of human-computer interacti on. Results from discourse analysis showed that students did criti cal but creati ve evaluati on, also related new ideas and searched for new interpretati ons. Besiades, the interfaces developed by the students were more creati ve.Item Efficient BSP/CGM algorithms for the maximum subsequence sum and related problems(2015) Lima, Anderson Corrêa de; Branco, Rodrigo Gonçalves de; C´aceres, Edson Norberto; Gaioso, Roussian Di Ramos Alves; Aquino, Samuel Benjoino Ferraz; Song, Siang Wun; Martins, Wellington SantosGiven a sequence of n numbers, with at least one positive value, the maximum subsequence sum problem consists in finding the contiguous subsequence with the largest sum or score, among all derived subsequences of the original sequence. Several scientific applications have used algorithms that solve the maximum subsequence sum. Particularly in Computational Biology, these algorithms can help in the tasks of identification of transmembrane domains and in the search for GC-content regions, a required activity in the operation of pathogenicity islands location. The sequential algorithm that solves this problem has O n time complexity. In this work we present BSP/CGM parallel algorithms to solve the maximum subsequence sum problem and three related problems: the maximum longest subsequence sum, the maximum shortest subsequence sum and the number of disjoints subsequences of maximum sum. To the best of our knowledge there are no parallel BSP/CGM algorithms for these related problems. Our algorithms use p processors and require O n/p parallel time with a constant number of communication rounds for the algorithm of the maximum subsequence sum and O log p communication rounds, with O n/p local computation per round, for the algorithm of the related problems. We implemented the algorithms on a cluster of computers using MPI and on a machine with GPU using CUDA, both with good speed-ups.
