Resumo
This paper aims to discuss the question of institutional repositories - IRs and how they are implemented in this country. To do this, so this researchis exploratory and qualitative concept of scientific communication and institutional repositories as a strategy to increase the visibility of scientific information. The field of research are the Brazilian institutional repositories that are registered in OpenDOAR and ROAR, directories of records from open Access repositories. Raises operating policies of IRs constituted and analyze them in comparison with the model policy established by Fernando Leite, adapted from Barton and Waters. Identifies 39 institutional repositories registered in ROAR and OpenDOAR 8 and up operating policies established in July this year. The comparative analysis of these policies shows that they cover general matters about their repositories and issues that should be defined in the document are treated superficially or not they are cited as criteria for digital preservation and disposal of items.
