An Experiment was conducted using a clorima
ted experimental bait called EAV-041-A. This experiment was conducted to determine the efficiency of EAV-041-A using the leaf-cutting ant Atta sexdens robropilosa as the test. The experiment was executed in Goiânia, Goiás comparing it with the comercial baits: Mirex, Isca Shell and Agroceres AGO Results obtained howed Mirex was superior
giving 93.30% control of the nests EAV-041-A 80.00% and Is ca Shell and Agroceres both gave 73.30% contra!.
Total cost of application was calculated ba
sed on price of the bai t on the market hand labor in the re
gion, and efficiency of the various baits. Cost calculated on the basis of ant nests killed were in the folloing or der: EAV-041-A Cr$ 2.27, Isca Shell Cr$ 3.41, Agroceres Cr$
4.29 and Mirex Cr$ 5.44 (At the time of these calculations the official exchange rate as Cr$ 6.00 ta US$ 1.00). This evidence proved EAV-041-A to be the most economical.
