Resumo
Using histological and histochcmical methods íor glicoconjugales. the presenl work on the salivary glands of the alligator Caiman lalirostris (Crocodilia. Replilia), was developed. On the bases of the results obtained, the authors believe that those glands are not well developed, appearing as unicellular structures goblet-like cells, in the stratified squamous epitelium of the oral caviry. Scattered glands alveolus without excretory tubules which extend dircclly whil tbe epitelium wete alr.o preseat. By rneans of bistochemical methods for glicoconjugates, it was possible to detect lhe glicoprotein and the sialic acid in the glandular fomation of these animais.
