Resumo
The postmodern culture reaches the world stage
around the 1940s, triggering a complex and controversial mo-
vement, especially in the world of culture and knowledge pro-
duction. However, its dimension reaches the society as a whole,
shifting the problem to the field of politics, basically coinciding,
in temporal terms, with the emergence of neoliberal ideology.
This historical fact justifies its examination having as a basic input
the Frankfurt School’s critical theory, especially that of Herbert
Marcuse. The statutes governing the postmodern theory are cri-
tical elements of analysis in this paper, which elects as medullary
concepts the anti-historicism, the pseudo-criticism, and the crisis
of reason.
