Resumo
This article presents a reflection on folk studies in Brazil’s academic
world. Reviews the first published research on folk music regarding the state of
Goiás, stressing the first recordings by the singer Ely Camargo, and presents an
analysis of the notions of authenticity, identity and cultural memory, based on
musical manifestations from Goiás.
