Resumo
Starting from thc confirmation that the peasant and his culture are treated by marginal mcans, specially by historiographers, the article makes some reflexions on the cultural history and on the concepts of culture and
peasant. It emphasizes the necessity of the study of the peasant culture as the
culture of a subordinated class, that suffers a capitalist exploration, but has its
own desires, its practices and conditions of resistence.
At last, the article indicatcs some elements for a cultural-historica cresearch ofthe peasant manifestations in Goiás.
