Resumo
It deals with a study about reading and media, whose object is established in the reading prejudices present in the Brazilian soap opera. The central question is concerned with the distribution of this practice among the nuclei of its dramaturgies, in the hypothesis that there is a restrictive, elitist and antidemocratic construction by which prejudices are reinforced to the extent that a certain support is favored in the dissonant cultural manifestations between the "rich core" and the "poor core." In order for the analysis to be sustained, the novel Avenida Brasil by João Emanuel Carneiro, transmitted by Rede Globo between March 26 to October 19, 2012, is chosen, considering the audience as a methodological criterion. They point to the scenes in which the reading is portrayed, the prejudices are identified within the theoretical presuppositions and the profile of the reader is recognized in the fictional circumstance. It is justified in the demystification of the concept of reading linked to fixed supports and specific texts, but mainly by the encouragement to the diverse practices of this plural universe. Content Analysis is used as a verification method based on the adequacy of the proposed objective, which is classified as basic, qualitative and exploratory. Theoretical-conceptual and evolutionary aspects on reading and soap opera are presented; the methodology is described in its practical dimensions; the data are exposed, what has been exposed is reflected, and results are indicated that television sets up an ideological apparatus that reinforces symbolic violence by disseminating a stereotyped idea of culture as inherent in the dominant classes. We confirm the initial assumptions by noting the discrepancy of the "rich core" reading practices for the "poor core", since there is a social distance between them. Finally, he suggests contributions to the theme and continuity of research.
