Resumo
This article discusses the role of the individual in history, as well as its autonomy and ability to intervene in historical events. Resuming some aspects of the debate of historiography on the individual in history, it examines the perspective of the materialist conception of history and the real meaning of individual actions in the historical process. To this end, it discusses the social formation of the individual, his uniqueness and relative autonomy, his participation in history as an expression of social classes and other forces acting in society. Thus, we conclude that in class societies the relative autonomy of the individual is very small and he only influences the course of historical events when he expresses needs and social classes.
