A ultrassonografia transvaginal no diagnóstico da endometriose profunda

OBJECTIVE: To establish the prevalence of gynecological pathologies diagnosed by transvaginal ultrasound in women over 40 years old, identify the most common pathological findings and determine the frequency of gynecological pathologies found among age groups of women. METHODS: A retrospective study that evaluatéd 4548 records of patients older than 40 years who underwent transvaginal ultrasound from January 2012 to December 2013. RESULTS: The most frequent pathology was uterine fibroids (35.09%), followed by ovarian cysts (7.65%) and endometrial hyperplasia (7.39%). The age group most affected was between 40 and 50 years in all pathologies found. The adenomyosis was present in 75.00% of patients, ovarian cysts and hydrosalpinx in 72.40 and 71.40%, respectively. Fibroids, ovarian cysts and endometrial hyperplasia were present in 60.90%, 72.40% and 50.00% of patients, respectively. DISCUSION: The prevalence of gynecological pathologies diagnosed by transvaginal ultrasound in women over 40 years was 57, 08%. The most common pathological findings were uterine myoma (35.09%), ovarian cyst (7.65%) and endometrial hyperplasia (7.39%). The age group most affected by major diseases was between 40 and 50 years, and the prevalence of fibroids in this group was 60, 90%, as for the presence of ovarian cysts prevalence was 72.4% and for endometrial hyperplasia was 50.0%.
