Resumo
In this paper, we aim to discuss the contemporary US hegemony in the international monetary
and financial system and analyze the international discussions after the 2008 crisis concerning the
decrease of the dollar preponderance globally. Given the rise of China in the current international
economy, we highlight, especially, the Chinese policies that intent to reduce its dependence on the US
dollar in the global monetary and financial order.
