Resumo
This paper aims to discuss the strategies and issues regarding the staging of the play
Freedom, Freedom (1965). Millôr Fernandes and Flávio Rangel’s text offers a different way of considering
the relationship between the historical present and literary tradition, out of the axis created
by the notion of memory related to testimony. Fifty years after the military coup in Brazil, we believe
the play Freedom, Freedom can be read as a means of Literature and its critical power to survive.
