Resumo
Teachers and librarians are training agents for individuals literate in information in the
education context and as such they need continued training to expand their pedagogical
practices. The Federal University of Goiás offers the Specialization Course in Information
Literacy: education for information in order to minimize the gap in the training of these
professionals. The purpose of this research was to identify the expansion of the concept of
information literacy as well as the expansion and improvement of the pedagogical and / or
professional practices of the course participants. It was justified by seeking to understand how
different types of professionals apply literacy in their professional practices after completing
the course. It presents a theoretical foundation in information literacy through the re-reading of
authors such as Gasque e Campello, which dedicated to research in this area of knowledge.
To this end, the research was carried out based on documentary analysis of the course and
the application of a questionnaire to graduating students. Thus, the results indicate that there
was an expansion in the pedagogical practices of the vast majority of participants, mainly with
regard to research practices. Which allows us to conclude that the course is a promising
proposal for the training of professionals, especially in the area of education, with informational
skills that make them capable of training literate individuals.
