Edições comparadas: culinária e cultura gráfica em O cozinheiro popular (1900–1973)

Abstract

The article analyzes the editorial and graphic trajectory of the book O Cozinheiro Popular, published continuously, between 1900 and 1973 in Brazil. By comparing successive editions, significant transformations are observed in the editorial project, covers and paratextual elements, revealing tensions between tradition and innovation in the constitution of a national culinary repertoire. The work also proposes, from a cultural history perspective, a reflection on the argument for modernity in the relationship with the ingredients and composition of the recipes, in the female figure and in the graphic inflections based on the materiality of the texts and their modes of circulation.
