Análise de sinistros com veículos pesados de carga ocorridos na BR-153 em Goiás

Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate contributing factors to the occurrence of traffic crashes involving heavy cargo vehicles on the BR-153 highway in Goiás (GO). Data from the Federal Highway Police (PRF) and traffic counts from the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) were used for: i) characterization of crashes; ii) determination of critical points; and, iii) iRAP analysis. The results indicated that the main cause was "lack of attention to driving," and the most severe crash type was "collision with an object." Ten critical sections were identified, where the iRAP analysis revealed areas with a low level of safety for pedestrians and cyclists. It was concluded that the human factor is predominant, and the lack of adequate infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists also contributed to the criticality of the section.
