Resumo

The Global warming is driven by greenhouse gases (GHG), with the transport sector serving as a primary contributor. This study analyzed the evolution of global scientific output regarding GHG emissions from road freight transport operations. The methodology employed a quantitative bibliometric review using the Scopus and Web of Science databases, selecting 1,042 articles published up to 2025 with the aid of artificial intelligence. The results indicate a 13% annual growth in publications, aligning with global climate milestones. The collaboration network is concentrated in the USA, China, and Europe, with the University of São Paulo holding institutional leadership. A thematic shift was observed in the literature, evolving from local chemical monitoring in the 2000s to a focus on logistics management and heavy-duty fleet efficiency. A gap was identified regarding the disconnect between engine engineering and managerial optimization. Diesel fleets remain the central focus of the literature, while electrification and alternative fuels are emerging as potential avenues for decarbonization.
