Resumo
Road crashes are a public health problem in Brazil, and to implement effective actions to mitigate this phenomenon, it is essential to use analytical techniques that allow us to understand the factors that contribute to this issue. Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the infrastructure of critical hotspots for motorcyclists, on a stretch of BR-153, between Km 501 and Km 505, with the support of iRap's ViDA software. As a result, characteristics of the infrastructure that contribute to the occurrence of road crashes were found, such as objects close to the road, inadequate guard rail, narrow road shoulder, absence of sounders and high vehicle speed. Consequently, as mitigating measures, the adaptation of containment barriers, removal of dangerous objects, installation of sounders and speed control were proposed. The study revealed weaknesses that increase the risk of accidents for motorcyclists on the sections analyzed and compromise the safety of other road users. Future studies recommend including traffic counts and data on pedestrians and cyclists for a more comprehensive assessment of road safety.
