This work proposes the development of an unsupervised method for segmenting cranial
CT images. The methodology involves extracting image features and applying
similarity and continuity constraints to create segmentation maps of intracranial
structures and observable tissues. This approach aims to assist specialists in diagnosis
by identifying regions with specific anomalies. Applied to real-world datasets,
the method uses a spatial continuity evaluation function related to the desired number
of structures. Results show satisfactory performance, indicating a simplified and
accessible approach that reduces computational load, training time, and financial
costs. This proposal serves as a practical tool for cranial CT image segmentation,
providing significant contributions to the analysis of medical images in clinical and
diagnostic settings.
A colonização militar no sertão de Amaro Leite: presídio de Santa Cruz, 1854-1864
(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2024-05-08) Almeida, Maria Juliana de Freitas; Nazareno, Elias; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1486334927436240; Nazareno, Elias; Almeida, Maria Regina Celestino de; Kodama, Kaori; Araújo, Ordália Cristina Gonçalves; Magalhães, Sônia Maria de
This thesis addresses the theme of the Military Colonization Project. The study of this project, implemented in several Brazilian provinces, including the province of Goiás, from the second half of the 19th century, aims to contribute to the historical knowledge of territorial and human conquest undertaken in Brazilian inland regions where colonization was incomplete or not yet established. The research focuses on the Santa Cruz Prison in the Sertão de Amaro Leite, with a timeframe that covers the years 1854 to 1864. This period encompasses the foundation of the prison until its transfer to the Jurupensen Port, on the banks of the Rio Vermelho, near the City of Goiás. The research aims to examine the Military Colonization Project, contextualizing its political and economic motivations, as well as analyzing its implementation in the province of Goiás, including the strategies and challenges faced. It seeks to investigate the social, political, and economic transformations resulting from the project's implementation in the Sertão de Amaro Leite region, considering its impact on the social structure and regional economy. The understanding of the relationships between the military settlers and the local population, especially the Indigenous peoples, as well as the analysis of the living conditions of the colonial prison's inhabitants, are also highlighted. The research addresses the emerging social dynamics and the strategies of coexistence and resistance adopted by the various groups involved, and the impacts of this territorial occupation policy on the Avá-Canoeiro Indigenous people, in the face of the changes caused by the colonization project. With this investigation, we hope to reflect on the history of Goiás from the perspective of the prison's inhabitants, who were both victims and protagonists of the historical scene. Our research adopted an approach that combines documentary analysis and literature review. The records were examined through quantitative analysis, including statistical data treatment. Simultaneously, we conducted a qualitative analysis aiming to understand the daily life of the colonizing institution through a process of reconstruction, representation, and comparison. The establishment of military prisons in the Sertão de Amaro Leite allowed the imperial government to have greater control over the region, as well as enabling the expansion of the non-Indigenous population in the area. The analysis of the Santa Cruz Prison reveals the multiple facets of the Military Colonization Project. While the imperial government achieved its objectives due to the increase in the non-Indigenous population and the implementation of roads and paths, the residents also experienced benefits such as strengthened security and stimulated trade. However, for the Indigenous peoples, especially the Avá-Canoeiro, the consequences were disastrous, resulting in drastic changes in their way of life and the loss of lives and territories. Through the study of the Santa Cruz Prison, we can understand the complexity and varied impacts of the military colonization project for Brazil. This deeper understanding not only enriches our knowledge of the past but also allows us to reflect on current issues related to colonization, Indigenous rights, and regional development.
O quadrado tensorial não-abeliano, construções relacionadas e p-grupos

Let G and Gφ be two isomorphic groups. We study the group ν(G) that is an
extension of the non-abelian tensor square of G, G⊗G. We show how ν(G) preserves
properties from the group G in question. We also study potent and powerful finite
p-groups. We prove that the non-abelian tensor square of G and the k-th term of the
lower central series of ν(G) are potently embedded in ν(G), when G is a potent finite
p-group. Moreover, for an odd prime p, if G is a potent p-group, then exp(ν(G))
divides p · exp(G)
The aim of this study was to compare the parameters of pain, edema, temperature and soft tissue
closure, after extractions of lower third molars, in dental sockets that received two different
photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) protocols. This is a double-blind, split-mouth randomized
clinical study, in which 31 participants had their teeth 38 and 48 extracted. After extractions,
one of the dental socket received PBMT at a wavelength of 808 nanometers (nm) (infrared –
group 808) and the other dental socket received irradiation at wavelengths of 808 nm and 660
nm associated simultaneously (infrared + red – group 808+660), both in 3 points in the region
of the dental socket, after the surgical procedure and on the 3rd and 7th days. Patients were
evaluated for pain perception using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and measurements were
taken of facial edema, in centimeters (cm), temperature using Infrared Thermography, in
degrees Celsius (ºC) and the distance between the edges of surgical wounds, in millimeters
(mm), in the immediate postoperative period and on the 3rd, 7th and 28th days. For both
808+660 and the 808 groups, the mean VAS values for pain were 1.45 for the 3rd day and 0.52
for the 7th day. Regarding the assessment of facial edema, the averages for the pogonion-tragus
measurement, on the 3rd day, were 15.38 cm for the 808+660 group and 15.48 cm for the 808
group and the averages for the labial commissure measurement-tragus, on the 3rd day, was
11.97 cm for the 808+660 group and 12 cm for the 808 group. The average temperatures for
the 808+660 group were 34.9 ºC for the 3rd day and 35 ºC for the 7th day and for group 808, it
was 34.9 ºC for the 3rd and 7th days. Regarding the size of the dental socket, measured on the
28th day, the averages for the 808+660 group were 5.25 mm (length) and 2.38 mm (width) and
for the 808 group they were 5.12 mm (length) and 2.45 mm (width). All patients benefited from
the effects of both PBMT protocols and no complications or adverse effects were encountered.
After statistical analyses, adopting the value of p<0.05, no significant differences were found
for the parameters of edema, temperature and socket healing, when comparing the two
protocols. For the pain parameter, significant differences were found only for the 7th day, being
greater for the 808+660 group (p=0.031). It can be concluded that the addition of the red laser
(660nm) and the increase in energy did not intensify the benefits in reducing pain, edema or
closing the soft tissues of the alveoli of lower third molars, in the protocols used here

(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2024-06-20) Santos, Daniely Berto dos; Faria, Elisabeth Cristina de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5007480938176936; Faria , Elisabeth Cristina de; Andrade , Kamila da Silva; Lima, Luciano Feliciano de
This study aims to investigate the use of Scratch as an educational tool to enhance the
understanding of integers in the context of elementary education. The motivation for this
approach arises from the need to provide additional support and expand the learning of integer
concepts using programming. The central question guiding this work is: How do students apply
their learning about integers in programming situations with Scratch? The objectives include
exploring the Scratch platform as a tool to increase students' interest and understanding of
integers, as well as promoting the creation of games and animations using this programming
language. The research was conducted with fifteen 7th-grade students from a public school in
workshops that adopted a qualitative methodological approach, utilizing participant observation,
questionnaires, photographs, activity records, and field notes as data collection instruments.
Content analysis was employed to examine the students' perceptions and experiences regarding
the addressed topics. The results revealed that integrating programming with Scratch
significantly contributed to better student engagement, increasing their motivation and
promoting a more solid understanding of integer concepts. The importance of the teacher's role
as a mediator and facilitator during the learning process is also highlighted, emphasizing the
need to integrate digital technologies critically and ethically. The theoretical references for the
