Item Aspectos anatômicos do pênis, prepúcio e músculo retrator do pênis de bovinos das raças Gir e Nelore(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2010-04-30) MENDONÇA, Alberto Corrêa; FIORAVANTI, Maria Clorinda Soares; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8772502020076257; SILVA, Luiz Antônio Franco da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0446055905975647; BRITO, Luiz Augusto Batista; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3212353728321020Professionals of reproduction are increasingly looking for a deeper study of the penis and prepuce for the selection of reproductors to avoid factors that may favor the development of diseases causing impotence coeundi. In the surgical area this knowledgment facilitate nerve blocks and surgical approaches. So, it was aimed to conduct a review of penis and prepuce focusing embryological aspects, postnatal development, anatomical and histological composition, muscular origin and insertion, blood and lymphatic irrigation and drainage, innervation and mechanism of erection and ejaculation and to study morphometric aspects of the penis, prepuce and penis retractor muscle of Gir and Nelore cattle. In the first study, we selected 40 bulls aged between 30 to 38 months, being 20 Nelore and 20 Gir. These animals were evaluated by clinical examination and specific terms of the genital tract, test libido and mating ability. Later, the animals were carried to the slaughterhouse, where anatomical parts of the penis and preputium were collected in order to perform the morphometry and dissection of the retractor muscles of the penis, which, regardless of race presented in pairs in all animals. The second vertebra was the site of origin of the penis retractor muscle in all animals studied. The insertion of the left retractor muscle of the penis was more distally than the right one. However, there was no association with any disease process, since all animals showed themselves able of carrying out mating. In the second study, it was selected 23 Nelore and 20 Gir bulls from different centrals of collection of semen in order to study the morphometry and the correlation of different body and preputial measures. The average length of the prepuce of Nelore and Gir bulls was 52.4 5.5 cm and 57 3.2 cm, respectively. In the third study, for the penile morphometry, it was used the anatomical specimens of the first experiment. The penis length was, on average, 71.96 and 75.73 cm, respectively for the Nelore and Gir bulls. Some morphological and morphometric parameters quantified in this work, as the length of the prepuce, the shortest distance from the preputial orifice to the abdominal wall, lower distance from the umbilicus to the abdominal wall, circunference of the preputial orifice, length of the glans and length of free part of the penis, are found to be important parameters to evaluation criteria in the selection of reproductors for phenotypic characteristics improvement or even for prevention of acquired diseases that affect the external genitalia of bulls.Item Imunofenotipagem e avaliação quantitativa de linfócitos circulantes de bovinos da raça curraleiro(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2008-03-03) MORAES, Júlia de Miranda; FIORAVANTI, Maria Clorinda Soares; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8772502020076257; BRITO, Luiz Augusto Batista; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3212353728321020The Curraleiro cattle are extremely docile and resistant to infectious diseases and parasites. They may be used in exploration of low-quality pastures, without great investments, when other breeds could show a low productivity or even survival difficulties. This genetic potential runs risk to extinction due to its replace by more productive breeds. The Curraleiro cattle resistence to illness is popularly known and many works has been published about it, although its immunologic system physiology is completely unknown. Such features are plausible reasons for the preservation of this potentially genetic resource. So, the mean aim of this study was to establish an immunological profile by marking and quantification of T and B lymphocytes in Curraleiro breed with immunocytochemistry. Thus, it was used 116 bovines, male and female, with different ages from two farms situated at Goiás State, Brazil. The animals were allotted in groups according to age, sex and origin. Blood samples were collected and processed in accordance with immunocytochemistry standard technique using lymphoid markers species-specific, anti-CD3 (MM1A BoCD3) and anti-LB (LCTB16A clone B-B14), for T and B lymphocytes counting, respectively. All procedures were accomplished at Veterinary School, Federal University of Goiás, Brazil. The data were submitted to descriptive statistics and then to Kruskall Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. The results showed decreased levels of leukocytes, lymphocytes, T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes along the age advance. Absolute values of leukocytes, lymphocytes and T lymphocytes were higher in males than females. None of the evaluated parameters were affected by differences of the management carried out at two farms. Such meshes, when implanted through intraperitoneal via may lead to visceral adherence formation, and, in most severe cases, to intestinal obstruction. Low density meshes are a promising innovation, for studies indicate that the lower the weight and porosity of the mesh, the lower the inflammatory response will be. Those meshes may come associated to absorbable biomaterials, which, when in contact with visceral peritoneum will inhibit adhesiolysis. This following study investigates if low density polypropylene mesh, associated or not to poliglecaprone film, implanted by intraperitoneal via will reduce adherence incidence, maintaining the same traction resistance as the host tissue. Surgical-produced wall defects in female Wistar rats were surgically corrected by intraperitoneal implanting of high density polypropylene mesh (Group PPa, n=18), low density polypropylene mesh (Group PPb, n= 18) and low density polypropylene mesh coated with poliglecaprone film (Group PPG, n=18). The animals were evaluated at 30, 90 and 180 post-implant days. In all three groups the meshes employed were able to repair the abdominal defect. Between groups PPa and PPb, low density polypropylene mesh had the lowest index of visceral adherence. The mesh of the group PPG did not induce visceral adherence. At 180 days post implant, type I collagen was the predominant element found, involving the mesh s monofilaments, in all three groups. There was no significant difference among groups PPa, PPb and PPG as to resistance and traction of the abdominal wall at the end of the post implant 180 days.
