Be ggining with the structure of trivial narratives ~ characteristic of the classical police stories ~, it is verified how the crimina l intrigue is presented in the five narratives. nesides deviating from the scheme, they question the involving criminal reality. It is, in my view, the "humanization" of a trivial theme because they elaborate on contradiction as its fundamental structure . This dialetic elaboration answers for the amplification of the criminal matter, permitting the approach of philosophycal, social, economic, mystic and moral themes. L'écrivain Sylvia Orthof utilise le caractère positif du rire carnavalier et à travers des ressources telles que l'inversion et le grotesque interroge le sérieux de l'homme. La vieillesse est décrite comme une phase importante de la vie. Teinté dans une perspective opposée au vulgaire, le vieil homme rit mais aussi rit, ce qui le rapproche de l'enfant qui lit. We decided, then, think and discuss the articulation between the concepts of Will of Truth and Will to Power, in order to understand the way moral establishes itself in the set of interactions. We demonstrates, like that, the way the society commands itself based on the current knowledge and, at the same time, creates resistences, transforming itself through the confrontation of forces, of the logical of power. Then, the theorical-methodological postulate with wich one works is the study of the discourse by the Foucault’s archaeogenealogy, bringing also, to the research, Nietzsche’s notions and reflections, in order to better illustrate the way society is constituted and your ways to see and say. The use of this theoretical contribution is justified because it is based on numerous unfoldings and contributions to the studies of the language in a historicist perspective. Thereby, it seeks to highlight issues pertinent to this field of study; What means Will to Power? What means Will of Truth? How those concepts relate on na enviroment were resistence and regularity coexist? What are the consequences that these concepts can have in what we propose to investigate? How do you set up a moral control mechanism? Those are questions that guide this work and that tend to worry for a more accurate theoretical analysis. Another aspect that is relevant to this approach is the understanding of the concept of device; according Courtine (2013), we should look to the device as a set of knowledges that can be crossed and make others appear, having a strategic function regulated by the power relations. Foucault and Nietzsche provide a basis for reading the concepts that are discussed, being complemented by your readers. This study is qualitative in that we do not look for exhaustive but representative data. Therefore, will be described, related and crossed statements that present in the contemporaneousness the quest to control morally the body, observing the resumption of the “already said” in function of legitimizing the discourses, leading to the discussion of why a person who goes hungry do not steal to eat as an example of the dynamics of morality. Our aim was to analyze some phonologic, morphologic and syntactic processes, as well as the pragmatic ones throughout child speech data relating them to possible linguistic displacements that could lead the Portuguese language to definitively substitute the indigenous language. In this analysis we have established connections among the displacement processes and the social changes experienced by the Tapirapé indigenous people as a consequence of the asymmetric distribution of power among dift'erent societies. The theoretical basis of this study results írom the theories of bilingualism and the social and historical approaches proposed by Hamel (1988 on) who sees language contact as a conflicting relationship among indigenous and dominant societies. On the one hand, the results of our research point out to a tendency of displacement characterized in the linguistic level by the insertions of Portuguese. It also aims at verifyng whether theses characteristics are in accordance with teaching method adopted by this school, which is the communicative approach. Finally, it analyses the probable backwash effect that the use of these tests have in the classroom practice. This research is based on language teaching and testing theories, mainly related to the communicative approach, and also the theories on types and qualities of language tests and backwash effect. In this study, I adopted the principles of the qualitative research method in order to collect and analyse the data. The results point out that there is an incompatibility between the communicative testing paradigms and the characteristics I have identified in these tests. The also indicate that this incompatibility compromises the evaluation process of the students and also the teaching practice that precedes the tests.Item Memória e história na ficção de Carlos Heitor Cony: um estudo dos romances Pessach: a travessia e Romance sem Palavras(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2003-10-15) BARROS, Deusa Castro; FRUNGILLO, Mario Luiz; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3995744089120692This work proposes to analyze the literary creation by Carlos Heitor Cony, about the novels Pessach: a travessia (1967) and Romance sem Palavras (1999), bringing into relation with History and Literature in the analyzed works, according Hayden White (1992; 1994) about History/Literature relation, and Gilberto Velho (1988; 1994), about memory and retrospective, and Stuart Hall (1982; 2002) about post-modern identity. The research concerning Cony s literature focalizes relation beside two novels and the lived facts for Brazilian society while the Military Dictatorship post-64, observing like the author recuperates the individual and collective memory for comprehension of present time by your characters. We find in Pessach a mixture between History and fiction that has knowledge of citations and situations from epoch, yonder various characters recognizable easily in Brazil History. Cony, in Pessach, making description of opposition factions to the dictatorship and epoch government, says about a big Brazilian group that in the military political system hesitates between plans and memory that should form your identity. Certainly the contributions of those novels reaffirm the merit of the literary creation by Carlos Heitor Cony and they permit new horizons to the studies modern History of Brazil e to the practice to tell plotsItem Redescobrindo uma controvérsia elizabetana: as (re)leituras do amor em traduções brasileiras dos Sonetos de Shakespeare(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2004-06-18) Silva, Gisele Dionísio da; Aguiar, Ofir Bergemann de; Aguiar, Ofir Bergemann de; Rajagopalan, Kanavillil; Pinto, Joana PlazaThe present assignment aims to investigate how the post-structuralist concept of language calls into question and redefines traditional notions relating to sign, text, reading and translation. Based mainly on the discussions brought about by French philosopher Jacques Derrida's deconstruction, this work intends to verify how the demystification of the idea of a stable and transcendent origin allows for a reconsideration of the conventional status attributed to the supposed 'original' text and the translation, in which both are inserted in an endless chain of intertextuality. Supported by the notion of difference as a basic and inevitable part of all human activities and relations, deconstruction sees in translation the status of a text in its own right, different from the 'original', to be carried out by a translator who's no longer mechanical and intelectually limited, but by a person sociohistorically, culturally and ideologically defined by his/her community. In order to detect the translator's authorship responsibility in his/her work – surrounded by interferences arising from his/her subjectivity and the coercions imposed by the context in which he/she lives –, four Portuguese translations of five poems from the Sonnets, written by the English poet and playwright William Shakespeare, will be examined. The lyrical work in question is of extreme interest due to the many controversies which have surrounded it since its publication in 1609, all of which have been invariably silenced by various critics because they refer to Shakespeare's sexuality and integrity as a national cultural property. Moreover, considering the fact that the Sonnets are the focus of very little critical reflexion in the Brazilian literary scenario, it becomes important to investigate whether the piece's sexual implications has played a major role in its timid reception in our territory. The translations selected for analysis are signed by Péricles Eugênio da Silva Ramos, Jerônimo de Aquino, Oscar Mendes and Jorge Wanderley. It is relevant to observe how translators in Brazil have come to terms with the polemic aspects of this poetic sequence, by shaping their texts with certain choices that allow for a vision of their concepts on language, literariness, poetry and translation.Item Correção de erros orais pelo professor em aulas de inglês: um estudo com uma turma de alunos universitários(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2005-07-04) Silva, Michele Dionísio da; Figueiredo, Francisco José Quaresma de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1701940743664871; Figueiredo, Francisco José Quaresma de; Santos, Percília Lopes Cassemiro dos; Rees, Dilys KarenThis work aims at investigating the corrective actions of a teacher of a group of 3 rd year students in a public university in Goiás during the first semester of 2004. It tries to identify the types of errors corrected by the teacher, the strategies used to correct them, as well as obtain some information about the perceptions and feelings the students have towards this classroom activity. The processes of data collection and analysis are based on the principles of qualitative investigation. The data description and analysis were based on a research study carried out by Lyster and Ranta (1997). Quantitative resources are also included in order to aid the interpretation and display of the results. Theories about the correction of oral errors, Larry Selinker’s concept of interlanguage (1972) and the interactional hypotheses are used to indicate our assumption that interaction is a fundamental step to be taken in order to promote more student engagement in the language learning process. Moreover, we believe in the potential of oral correction, given that it may offer contributions to the students’ linguistic development. It should not be mere evidence of what the teacher wished them to have “learnt” or accomplished during an activity. The results show that elicitations and metalinguistic feedback were most effective in terms of promoting the negotiation of form. Therefore, they were responsible for the highest number of student-generated repairs. The use of these types of strategies meant that students were able to have a more active role in the process of correction of their oral errors. This kind of investigation in different contexts is important in order to form a theory that is more tangible for language teachers in Brazil, which can actually be applied according to his/her own reality.Item Lima Barreto: em diálogo com a modernidade(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2006-03-31) CUNHA, André Mols Faria da; FRUNGILLO, Mario Luiz; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3995744089120692Author of a huge written production, in spite of the short time he lived, Lima Barreto presents himself as one of the great brazilian writers, living in a particularly delicate moment in the country s history, more specifically during the transition between Empire and the First Republic and the first years of the new regime. Brazil, in the times of Lima Barreto, saw itself thrown in a turmoil of astounding power. The Republic s proclamation was the beginning of a crisis continuity, that took place from 1889 and on. Having as a goal, among other reasons, to have a higher level of similarity with the appearance of an European metropolis from the end of the XIX century, the city of Rio de Janeiro suffered, between this period and the beginning of the XX century a profound reform. The modifications would increase, in theory, the possibilities of business and exposition in relation to the rest of the civilized world of the time. Such innovations were mirrored, in part, in the work developed by Hausmann in Paris. In Rio de Janeiro, such adaptation process was named Regeneração, being commanded by the city s mayor at the time, Pereira Passos. One of the most important and complete registers of such period is the work of Lima Barreto, author who lived in lived with in the then country s capital city. In this work I deal specifically of the novel Vida e morte de M. J. Gonzaga de Sá, of Lima Barreto, having as focus the use the author makes of the socratic dialogue as discourse tool. In this novel, the character Gonzaga de Sá sees with sadness his Rio de Janeiro, old friend, gradually disappear while a stranger takes its place. The number of themes dealt with in this novel is striking. I start with the hipotesys that such situation is possible due to the text s form, which is predominantly the socratic dialogue. I believe that it is thanks to it and its free creative character that the discussion of this miryad of themes dealt by Gonzaga de Sá and his partner, Augusto Machado is made possible.Item A tensão na transição de licenciando(a) ao (à) professor (a) de Espanhol(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2006-06-30) MACHADO, Cleide Araújo; LIMA, Lucielena Mendonça de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5215089054455580Esta tesis, basada en una metodología cualitativa, investiga el proceso de reflexión de un grupo de estudiantes de dieciocho años en el último año de licenciatura - enable-portugués español en una universidad pública ubicada en Goias La encuesta se llevó a cabo, el De la observación de un momento de reflexión, que tuvo lugar en el aula durante las clases de Didáctica y Práctica Docente Españoles (DPEE). Nuestro objetivo general fue analizar cómo el conjunto de teorías de apoyo, estudiado en este curso, influyó en la formación de futuros profesores. Entre los objetivos específicos es el interés en analizar el impacto causado por la transición de (a) concesión de licencias (a) el lugar del alumno (a) para el maestro (a), negociado por las teorías y las ideas que se trabajan en el DPEE la disciplina y la etapa y comprobar cómo el debate trabajado en la formación docente, a fin de que inernalizados preguntas acerca de los valores que necesita para hacer espacio para la construcción de un nuevo modelo de profesor (a). Los datos constan de ocho documentos recogidos de 02/06/2004 a 01/12/2004 utilizando los instrumentos que permiten el estudio de caso: la entrevista. el cuestionario, la observación y análisis de documentos. Para registrar y utilizar los recursos de grabación de audio y audio / vídeo, e hizo una transcripción de estos datos. la perspectiva teórica que subyace a este estudio, la ruta hace la observación de cómo la educación es ahora, como (a) profesor (a) perciben su profesión, ¿qué implicaciones del contexto actual lleva a la construcción de la identidad la profesión docente y qué expectativas se publican en (a) profesor (a) para que su enseñanza responda a las necesidades de la época en que vivimos. In this work, the work Jurubatuba, by Carmo Bernardes, is the subject of study in order to verify how literary criticism has always pointed to the condition of the regionalist writer as the driving force of the narrative genre and his vocation inseparable from a personal experience in the big city. In this way, it is not intended, in this dissertation, just to capture regionalism as a kind of struggle between the periphery and the center or, even, an affirmation between the local and the global writer, contesting the prevailing hegemonic hierarchy in the economic, geographical, historical and cultural sense. literary. Rather, the objective is to change the point of view of the work as a suggestion so that the whole can be observed in a broader way and, therefore, accepting a certain distance in relation to the text itself in order to be able to better see the totality of the composition. , compare the recurrent forms, the similarities and dissimilarities with other forms and, thus, have the chance to understand the particularity of the specific motif that one wants to see. To do so, it uses the structural approach, which provides the opportunity for the analysis/theory relationship, privileging history and memory, that is, Goiás reality and psychological traits of the protagonist in Jurubatuba. In this way, the Carmobernardian novel becomes a border-space, articulator of a moment that divides space and time, creating an ambivalence between commonplaces doubly inscribed in the place of probation and the place of integrity and the enunciation and enunciation. The work transmigrates to the universal if one thinks of the historicity of its most ecumenical symbol: man, who is made up among the labyrinths of memory. Hence, two dimensions immediately impose themselves: memory and identity. These dimensions are representations present in the social imaginary and, as such, it must be assumed that, in order to relate to the real world, each culture constructs representations of it based on social practices. Therefore, the study brings to light the relevance of literature as an instrument for preserving memory and its contribution to understanding the artistic, historical, human and literary universe.Item Indícios de Autoria em Redações do Vestibular/UFG(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2007-03-30) OLIVEIRA, Bruna Maria da Cunha; SOUSA, Kátia Menezes de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1920351654350013This research has as main objective to analyze the essays requested as part of the university entrance exam (vestibular) of the Federal University of Goiás. As an initial assumption for this scientific inquiry, we took aspects of the authorship related to the genres requested in the vestibular exam under consideration. So that we could find authorial indicators in such texts, we asked the following questions: who are the citizens that produce these texts? Which are the particularities of this discoursive production? We can understand these texts as a specific discursive genre, genre used and created for the vestibular exam? From these questions we initiated a discoursive analysis, based on the notions elaborated by the theoreticians of the Discourse Analysis French school. Conceptions such as language, speech and text, led us to search in Mikhail Bakhtin and Michel Foucault conceptions of discoursive production, which allowed us to look through their works on authorship, debated in the two first chapters of this research. The data analyzed indicates a reflection on the discourse and the practices originated from it, considering that this study of non-consecrated texts suggests an attempt of introducing something new. From this theory point of view, this is not only acceptable but also an demonstration of the literature responsibility of the young candidates to an opportunity in superior education. We know that the language, in the perspective of the Discourse Analysis French school, is followed by the idea that interaction is basic for any type of discoursive production. Therefore, the aspects related to the life of the citizens in the process of production of these texts need to be taken under consideration in any analysis. This work, therefore, takes citizens that, when occupying the place of candidate-authors, are directed, based on historical and social matters, to use language to enfasized statements in detriment of others. This implies in a series of questions thought from the prospective of a theory of discourse, which led us to study Michel Pêcheux, French theoretician, and his conception of conditions of production of discourses. Pêcheux s work indicates a reflection about the imaginary formations that, acessed through a discoursive memory, assist the speakers to reach the intended sense in their production, verbal or written. Therefore, these and other concepts proceeding from this theory of discourse had been studied and used by us on the analysis of the authorial indicators in the last chapter of this research.Item A literatura infantil/juvenil brasileira na França: Où est Lobatô?(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2007-04-11) FRANCA, Vanessa Gomes; AGUIAR, Ofir Bergemann de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9534583045600695Les recherches historiographiques en traduction, dans le domaine des Études en Traduction, constituent en champs pas encore très étudié. Un des ses soucis est celui de vérifier ce que commment et pourquoi on traduit dans certaines cultures. Pour quelques théoriciens et auteurs un des prrincipaux motifs pour qu une oeuvre soit traduite est sa langue d écriture. Ana Maria Machado se met à discuter, dans une conférence au 27º Congrès de l IBBY, après avoir reçu le prix Hans Christian Andersen, de l importance de la traduction d une oeuvre pour qu elle soit vue et reconnue dans une autre culture. Elle parle encore de la position périphérique occupée par la langue portugaise au monde littéraire et la marginalité de notre culture. Selon Pasquale Casanova, en La Republique Mondiale des Lettres, pour qu un auteur soit reconnu mondialement est nécessaire que ses ouvrages soient traduites. Tel processus est valable, particulièrement, aux excentriques, ou soit, les écrivains qui ne font pas partie des grands centres littéraires. La littérature brésilienne est considérée, d après l auteur, comme appartenant à un espace littéraire moyen, pendant que la langue portugaise, une langue petite . On a perçu dans le discours de Casanova et de Machado une syntonie aux réflexions du théoricien belge des Études de la Traduction Andre Lefevere. D après lui, la valeur intrinsèque d une oeuvre n est pas suffisante pour assurer sa survivance, en étant nécessaires les reécritures, parmi lesquelles il y a la traduction, les essais critiques, les histoires littéraire et les adaptations cinématographiques et théâtrales. La canonisation des oeuvres et l évolution des littératures sont determinées pour l interaction entre les écritures et les réécritures, selon Lefevere. De ces considérations il nous vient l idée de nos dédier aux oeuvres enfantines et juvéniles brésiliennes qui ont étés traduites en langue française, puisque la nôtre littérature pour enfants et adolescents ont conquis chaque fois plus d espace au scénario international. Notre recherche constitue donc, une étude inédite vu que la traduction de ce type de littérature est encore un thème peu discuté au Brésil et à l extérieur. Tels textes n avaient pas encore reçu l attention du monde académique, en vertu, surtout du préjugé antérieurement conféré à la traduction comme object d étude, tout comme la littérature enfantine/juvénile et l illustration sont considérées des secteurs minimisés et marginalisés de la littérature. Notre objectif initial était travailler avec les oeuvres de la littérature enfantine/juvénile de Lobato traduites en français. Tel a été notre étonnement, au cours de nos recherches, quand on a decouvert que le père de la littérature enfantine-juvénile brésilienne n a aucune de ses oeuvres, destinées aux enfants et aux jeunes, editées en France, principalement pour sa littérature pour les adultes avoir été assez traduite en français aux années de 1920 et 1930. D où l approche que nous avons conféré à cet auteur et le titre de ce travail. Nous présentons une investigation des oeuvres enfantines et juvéniles brésiliennes trouvées en France, traduites ou editées directement en français. On fera une étude des éléments paratextuels et textuels à travers la comparaison de extraits de quelques oeuvres et de leurs traductions. Nous avons abordé des aspects interlinguaux et intersémiotiques. Taking Nina s (the protagonist) constitution in the main narratives of the book as the starting point, we attempt to establish a sort of analogy between the artistic and the philosophical thoughts about art in order to propose a reflection on the relationships between two kinds of knowledge. Therefore, starting from a perspective in which Nina consists of the literary image of the philosophical idea of art, in the first chapter, a comparative study between the conjectures surrounding this character is undertaken through four narrators in the novel (Timóteo, Betty, Ana and André) and the views of four philosophers about the work of art (Plato, Kant, Nietzsche and Heidegger). Throughout this study, we have focused on the relationship between beauty and truth, which is the main aspect of the philosophical discussion on art, and is also, from our perspective, symbolized by Nina in Crônica da casa assassinada. In the second chapter we discuss the question of art s death decreed by Hegel, so that we attempt to reveal the relationship between such questions and Lúcio Cardoso s concept of the tragic in his most important novel. Based on the philosophical and anthropological view of the tragic, and taking important authors such as Werner Jaeger, Albin Lesky, Gerd Bornheim and Emil Staiger s points of view, we have studied the discourses on death which are brought up in Crônica da casa assassinada in order to verify the perspectives of each one of the narrators that were studied related to the question of transcendence, here considered in his deep linkage to the religious basis of art. In the third chapter we attempt to defend the notion of art as a project which, from our perspective, encompasses the widest sense of Lúcio Cardoso s work. Considered from an existentialist point of view with a sartrean and heideggerian basis, the project consists in the possibility of the author s self-excelling in the sense that he reveals his personal truth through a fragmented and multifaceted thinking developed as a novel and, at the same time, constructs a new idea of man, having to revitalize or even threaten the so dear in his highly Christian view existence of God in order to reach such aim.Item A variação na expressão do dativo em variedades lingüísticas rurais goianas(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2007-08-08) Nascimento, André Marques do; Silva, Maria do Socorro Pimentel da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8282083433640454; Silva, Maria do Socorro Pimentel da; Casseb-Galvão, Vânia Cristina; Gomes, Christina AbreuThe regularity underlying variation in the use of dative complements of ditransitive verbs in speech samples of rural communities from Goiás is investigated in this work. Through quantitative sociolinguistic approach, it aims to verify which linguistic and social factors act in the alternance among a~para~Ø forms to express dative content besides bringing this variable phenomenon into relation to the discussion concerning to the structural origins of Brazilian Portuguese. The results indicate a change in progress in direction to the categorical use of the preposition para in the samples analyzed. Apparent time analysis shows that a and Ø forms tend to disappear in the speech of the communities observed. By means of quantification, which was analyzed by VARBRUL 2S programs, the indication of the linguistic variables adjacency of indirect object in relation to verb and morphology of direct object as statistically influent in the occurrence of Ø was obtained. This form occurs more often in linguistic environments which are more prototypical of dative constructions. Through principles such as prototypicity, iconicity and economy of linguistic forms it is argued that variation in focus has a functional origin, once the variant Ø is favored by contexts in which the preposition represents predictable and recoverable information. Preference for preposition para is explained by its semantic transparence in expression of dative content and by its neutrality in relation to a, which is more formal, and Ø, which is socially stigmatized and occurs more often in speech of illiterate individuals. European Portuguese diachronic data show that para and Ø forms were already present in this language structure. This fact confirms the hypothesis that origin of synchronic variation observed in rural communities from Goiás is not the result of linguistic contact with African languages in Brazil by means of an earlier process of irregular linguistic transmission. On the contrary, it is argued that synchronic variation reflects the natural shift of Portuguese since its archaic stage. This hypothesis is sustained by the fact that para and Ø forms are present in data of acquisition of Portuguese as a second language by speakers of different first languages.Item Diversidade linguística brasileira, as línguas páno e suas características ergativas(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2008-03-31) Abreu, Paulo Sérgio Reis de; Aguiar, Maria Suelí de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0950467502306607This work focuses on Brazilian linguistic diversity and, within it, the Páno family, from which was pointed out, under the grammatical point of view, the operation of the case systems. The study consists of an introduction, three chapters, a conclusion, bibliography and three appendices. Chapter 1 brings historical information on the linguistic diversity in Brazil at the time of the Portuguese incursion, the present situation of our languages, the methods for linguistic classification and its application on the Brazilian indigenous languages, and also aims at pointing out the importance of the descriptive linguistic studies of our autochthonous languages. Chapter 2 deals specifically with the Páno family, with the history of how the region where it is situated in South-West Amazonia was populated, with the various Páno people situated in Brazil, with classificatory efforts, with studies already carried out by Brazilian researchers, and also searches for establishing a vision of the genetic relationships between those different languages. The chapter 3 brings theoretical information on the study of ergativity, based on Dixon (1994), as well as an analysis of this grammatical phenomenon carried out by Lyons (1968). Afterwards, still in the chapter 3, the case systems from ten Páno languages are summarily observed, as well as the split in the case marking system in some of these languages. Its purpose is examining how the poet retakes and reinvents different poetic traditions. Among the adopted traditions by the poet, is the Greek one with its forms: epigram, epitaph and epitalamium. José Paulo Paes recovers these fixed forms but, by means of humor and irony, he adds new hues to them. Moreover, he remakes ancient proverbs in a parodic process of getting back of the original model and unconstruction of it. The theory that holds this work is that one of Eliot, in “Tradition and the individual talent”, that says the new poet finds his best and most original moments when he talks to the tradition. So we analyze too the relation among Paes and some of his forerunners, as Drummond, Bandeira, Augusto de Campos and the unknowed baiano modernist Sosígenes Costa. Although the poet initialy introduces himself as learner, by insisting in a refined irony, he is capable to reach his personal diction, expressing thus an own voice.Item Estatuto sintático-semântico do verbo fazer no português escrito do Brasil.(Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2008-09-11) RASSI, Amanda Pontes; VALE, Oto Araújo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2277403284693571This study proposes to examine the operation and uses of the verb to do in written texts the Portuguese of Brazil. The model adopted for the analysis is the Lexicon-Grammar (GROSS, 1975, 1981), under which all syntactic and semantic rules of a language can be described from their simple sentences. Theory of valences (Borba, 1996) recognizes the same principle, adding that there is a hierarchy among the constituents of the sentence and that in general, the central lexical item that selects every other element is the phrasal item lexical verb. Theories of the Lexicon-Grammar and provision, together with the notions of sign, meaning, value, text and gender, are the theoretical foundation of this research, both qualitative and quantitative, seeking not only the types of verb do, but, above all, their degree of recurrence in the corpus. The meanings and uses of the verb were taken to the texts that make up the Lazio-Ref, reference corpus Project Lazio-Web, organized and published by NILC USP (ALUÍSIO et al., 2004). Breaks, therefore, the assumption that all the Portuguese verbs undergo a continuum, ranging from full verb - which is the prototype - even a verb constituent expression crystallized, assuming as a verb support, vicarious, operator-causative, hiperverbo, among other classifications. To get to these classes and therefore the results, the analysis of the corpus followed the Transformational Model (Harris, 1964, 1968), applying transformational rules to simple phrases to determine their acceptability or unacceptability of the language. The analysis revealed recognize three interesting properties regarding the operation of the verb do in written Portuguese of Brazil: a) form is predominantly as a verb support, unlike many other verbs in Portuguese; b) classification is for a continuum and can not be described in terms of limit between one category and another, but in terms of boundaries, where two categories are mixed and interpose c) is one of the most productive verbs of the Portuguese language, which is explained by idea of linguistic struggling economy.
