Resumo
This research is financed by the Research Support Foundation of the State of Goiás (FAPEG), and
is part of the Research Line “Fundamentals of Educational Processes”, of the Graduate Program in
Education at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). The objective of this work is to understand
how the socialization of university professors happens on digital social networks. The theoretical
framework of this work is Karl Marx and the Critical Theory of Society, more specifically Adorno
and Horkheimer. To investigate the issue, we chose university professors from UFG from the
Pedagogy courses, because they are linked to education, and from the Journalism course, due to
their proximity to communication. It is a quanti-quali survey that used the questionnaire with
closed and open questions. In the analysis of the empirical research, we noticed that university
professors have a lot of access to the internet and digital social networks, with “WhatsApp” being
the first most accessed, every day for many hours, and predominantly to carry out work-related
activities at the same time. where many thinks that digital social networks do not determine the
way of life. Although they consider that digital social networks are a place for debate, they
comment very little and believe that they can promote knowledge, however much they believe it is
a space for the circulation of fast information. We note the role of socialization of university
professors through digital social networks, which participate in the cultural industry. These
networks are like a siren song that enchants by hiding technological rationality based on
algorithms, which expropriates the scheme and manipulates the teachers' retroactive needs, which
undermines the formation of knowledge and feeds the illusion that the user is an industry subject.
The primacy of immediate time and the constant connection in the networks, also hinders the
exercise of memory, encourages naturalization and the expansion of working time. We saw then
that digital social networks are a siren song that not only seduces, but leads to addiction, and that,
contradictorily, it is much more related to work than we imagined, even less being the relationship
with other people / groups. So, the song leads to semi-formation. We hope to have contributed to
the understanding of developments in human sociability today.
