To accomplish this bibliographical study, we chose to divide it into two parts. In the first part, entitled A narrativa brasileira contemporânea, comprising two chapters, we have made some considerations about the concept of contemporary literature, as we did a rescue of the critical reception of Brazilian literature produced in recent decades, followed by an extensive discussion on the issues constituent of metafictional narrative.
