The sleep perception is a subjective information that involves mental processes, memory and other aspects. Its measurement can be useful for the existence or not of sleep disorders. Objectives: To compare the perception of sleep in individuals submitted to polysomnography (PSG) and to evaluate if there is difference in the sleep perception reported by the questionnaires and the results obtained in the PSG. METHODS: Cross-sectional and analytical study of 248 individuals between January and December 2015. Data from questionnaires (STOP BANG, Epworth, Sleep Quality - Mini Sleep Questionnaire) and the Post-Sleep Data Collection Instrument (ICDPS) were compared to PSG findings. Results: The questionnaires showed that apneic patients perceived the sleep onset as significantly higher than the objective data (overestimating the latency), with p <0.001. There was no difference between the estimated duration of sleep and the total sleep time evaluated by PSG. Patients with impaired body mass index (BMI) had higher Apnea and Hypopnea Index (AHI). The prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea was higher in men (71.5%) than in women (p <0.001). Conclusion: The perception of sleep reported by the patients, through subjective data, do not differ from the objective data recorded in PSG if they are healthy or sick.application/pdfAcesso Abertohttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Percepção do sonoApneia do sonoPolissonografiaQuestionáriosPerception of sleepSleep apneaPolysomnographyQuestionnairesCIENCIAS DA SAUDE::MEDICINAPercepção do sono em pacientes submetidos à polissonografiaPerception of sleep in patients submitted to polysomnographyDissertação
