Resumo
The Goiás' northeast region, with high vulnerability and socio-environmental importance, presents one of the highest deforestation rates in the state, which, inascenarioofexpansionofagriculturaloccupation and decentralization of environmental management, mainly after Complementary Law n°. 140/2011, its raises questions. In this sense, the paper objective is to evaluate the agencies performance that make up the National Environment System (Sisnama) in the face of deforestation detected in the region from 2008 to 2017.The resultsshowed that, despite being the state entity responsible for forest management, was the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama), the most active agency, followed by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio). We can observe, however, a decrease in the presence of the federal entity in Goiás' northeast region, which was not accompanied by the strengthening of the performance of state and municipal environmental agencies. As a reflex, it was verifiedthat 58% of the detected deforestations occur without proper authorizationand without the application of appropriate punitive and corrective suitable measures, that it indicates a low efficiency in the performance of environmental agencies in the region.
