Agrohidronegócio canavieiro: apropriação da terra e da água

Abstract

This paper aims to discuss sugarcane Agrohydrobusiness, believing that it is not only the appropriation and exploration of land and labor that is based on sugarcane agribusiness strategies, but also on the appropriation of water. Through a theoretical discussion about the concept of Water Footprint and the mapping of area occupied by central pivots in Goiás with the location of the sugarcane mills of the state, we infer that the central pivot materializes as an example of the Agrohydrobusiness, in which agricultural commodities take ownership of water, illegally or legally through concessions, and that the sugar industry uses this strategy to territorialise in the state of Goiás.
