There is in the artist an intimate kind of a need to veil, under the aegis of undecipherable signs, his innermost and private impulses. An effort of an intended process of historical review is established in the historian by taking the realism away, image equal the truth, from the interpretation of the past. Thus, there is in this article the challenging reflection on a film, a documentary about a moment of our history: the Revolution of 30, by Sylvio Back, in which art and history join together in a multiplicity of visual signs that avoid the hegemony of only one interpretation, offering and demanding even an conceptual pacification, procedure which demands, without question, an opening to new interpretations.Item Arte funerária no Brasil: uma pesquisa peculiar no campo das artes visuais(2013) Borges, Maria EliziaThe text addresses the circumscription of the research on funerary art in Brazil because it is a material artifact of great significance for the history of art and cultural history.
