Resumo

Presents the importance of reading as an essential process for social development. Analysis as contributions of the school library of the Center for Education and Research Applied to Education (CEPAE) for a training of children's readers. Evidence in the theoretical notes the concepts of reading, reader, school library and profile of the librarian. It establishes as methodology a bibliographical review, exploratory and field research. It uses the qualitative approach and uses participant observation as a data collection instrument. Informs that the universe of research corresponded to students in the 1st to 5th year of elementary school who participate in compulsory actions in the library. It states that in the collection and interpretation of data, categories of analysis were created to gather the information of the participants in order to understand how the process of formation of readers in the studied school library was given. It concludes the results obtained that the students of CEPAE / UFG use, know and demonstrate importance by the library, and that the librarian collaborates in the actions and promotions of reading incentive for the formation of readers.
