39 será from patients wíth confirmed
cutaneous leishmaniasis have
been tested by indirect immunofluorescence
against antígens of "Leptomonas"
pessoai, L. brasiliensis, L. donovani
and T. Cruzi. The first three
antigens have also been tested against
100 - será - 20 from patients with
Chagas disease, 20 with pemphigus, 20
with Schistosomiasis, 20 with tuberculosis
and 20 with South American
blastornycosis. Among lhe será of the
control group, false positive reactions,
(titers over 20) were sèen in about
9% with one of the antigens, including
Chagas disease.
32 positive reactions (titers as high
or over 20) corresponding to 82,05%,
were obtained with ali antigens in ths
patients with cutaneous leishmaniasis.
L. brasiliensis revealed 18 positive
cases (46,13%); L. donovani revealed
15 positives cases (38,46); T. cruzi revealed 12 positive cases
30,76%) and the antígen of L. pessoal
revealed 30 positive cases
(76,87%). Thus, the largest number
of cases, with the highest titers have
been revealed by the antigen of L.
pessoai.
