Resumo
Ninety-one (91) clinicai
specimen were obtained among public
health civil servants working in
various áreas of production,
industrialization and medicine
manipulation. Four samples were
collected from each of them, being l
from the nose, l from the pharynx, l
from the armpit and l from the hands.
The samples were smears in Blood
agar and Difco agar manitol. After a
24 hour incubation period at a
temperature ranging from 35 to 37°C,
typical Staphylococcus colonies
developed, which were submitted to
the catalase and coagulase tests. The
results correspond to normal body
flora as reported in litterature. Of the
79 Staphylococcus sp positive
servants, 35,44% were assymptomatic
Staphylococcus aureus carriers,
64,55% were carriers of negative
coagulase Staphylococcus. Because of
such occurrences, we point out the
need for suitable clothing in order to
avoid the spreading of this bacterium
in medicine.
