Avaliação da eficácia do ivermectin na larva migrans murina experimental

Resumo

Sixty-eight inbred mice C57BL/6 wcre orally iníectcd wilh IO3 embryonatcd eggs of Toxocara canis to evaluate thc cíícct of differcnt doses of Ivermectin. Groups I(n=18), II(n=10) and III(n=10) wcre trcated with 200, 400 and 800 ug of Ivermectin, respectively, and Groups IV(n=20) and V(n=10) wcre controls. The T. canis eggs were obtained from lhe proximal utcrus of pregnant parasites, and were incubated at room tcmperature in 1% of fonnaldehyde for 40 days, in order to obtain infcctive embryonated eggs. Ivermectin was adininistered to thc experimental group by subcutaneous route aftcr dilution in propilcnoglicol, cight days after inoculation. Ali animais were euthanatized 23 days aftcr inoculation, at which time samples of brain and eyes tissues wcre histologically cxaminaled by means of vitropressure using normal light microscopy (for parasitological cvaluation). Efficacy was 54.02%, 54.76% and 55.44% for treatcd groups wilh 200, 400 and 800 ug of Ivermectin, rcspcctively. Despite of the small sample sizc of lhe experimental groups, lhe present data support lhat the treatment regimens of Ivermectin used had litlle efficacy for experimental visceral larva migrans of mice.
