Resumo
This study reflects on the origin of the production of folding screens in New Spain and their relationship
with other manufactures of oriental inspiration that emerged in the Viceroyalty. The questions posed concern
when the first examples appeared, who were the artisans responsible for this innovation and which were the
possible main production centers.
